Greens Renovations
The Greens Renovations this year at Waterford Valley were undertaken on August 21st. This is pretty early in the season but with the rainfall this winter and the course being quite wet we decided to get in early and get them done so by Spring the course play will be back to normal and the greens would have already been cored with no disruptions. The greens were hollow cored at 12mm to reduce the thatch layer in the sand profile and also help with the water infultration. The rootzone is getting deeper which will help when the hot weather starts. Soil tests were taken and the appriorate ammendments were added into the sand eg. Calcuim,Magniseum and organics. 8 weeks on, the greens have responded well to the early renovations and are back rolling true and a nice speed of 9.5 on the stimpmeter.
Other renovations to take place are scarifying of the Tees and Green Surrounds to take place in Spring-Summer this will cause no disruptions to the everyday golfer.
